I may or may not fail at fic. I watched The Invasion instead and was reminded to post the caps I made of the animated episode 1. I capped any shot I liked. There are 323 (I liked it lots).

Finished watching The Chase with Anjilah yesterday. (Today, she declared that she missed Ian and Barbara, despite not having started The Time Meddler yet.) This is where the watching Who in order should get very interesting. I absolutely love the first two seasons, of course, but I'd seen all the stories, I was familiar with the characters, I knew their arcs. Now, unknown territory! Yay!

Also, I would like to note that I kinda loved The Web Planet. )

So, in conclusion, there has been a re-evaluation, an about-face; I now really like The Web Planet and that is great. I am glad to own the DVD, even if I did idiotically buy it just a day or so before VAT decreased from 17.5% to 15%.

I have 13 emails marked as unread in my inbox to remind me to reply to comments. I have nothing tomorrow, whoops, today so should do that later.

I have written more in the past few days than in several months before that. [livejournal.com profile] fandom_stocking is wonderful, even without a stocking of my own, in that I get that and the pleasure of giving and lovely comments on the fic I managed to finish and post, even from those that it wasn't written for. LOVE YOU ALL.

The recent mod announcement on [livejournal.com profile] sarahjane_fic has also made me rather squeeful. Finally, I can go back and read the posts without fear of seeing that icon! :D

Jodi: 'You're so high on life. You're always so happy.' This is probably true; I think I'm very lucky. Certainly the way I'm feeling now; I am currently bouncing along happily to Queen.

:D :D :D Anjilah thought me bouncing about all over the place earlier was a symptom of not sleeping properly; Jen assured her that was indeed my normal reaction to receiving wonderful comments.

:D Almost all the house is here, 'Flash' by Queen has just come up, The Romans is hopefully in my near viewing and endorphins like whoa.

And no, I do not think I am high on sugar. The last thing I had to eat was at midday, nearly eight hours ago, even if it was melty warm chocolate cake with chocolate fudge ice cream. (Jodi and I were watching the first two episodes of Merlin).

*jazz hands* And possibly this is the most unconditionally happy post I've ever made. I wish I could capture this feeling and come back to it, give it out to all my friends when they were sad.

And I'm sorry, no 11 wank or LJ woes are allowed to puncture happy babble/bubble yet.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Doctor Who!

The TV show, that is, not the character, because that's not his name.

45 today! *huggles the show, everyone involved in making it, everyone who makes fandom more than worth the wank (that's all of you)*

Jen was very surprised that I got a question wrong on a Doctor Who quiz on Facebook. I didn't, the answer was wrong. No, really, it was. Or was it the forty-fifth anniversary of An Unearthly Child back in August and it's like Christmas, our counting's out and has been for ages?

I'm not celebrating, although I would very much like to, because I have eight weeks of reading diary to write, due in at noon two pm tomorrow. It's only PASS/FAIL, not graded, so aiming for the minimum of six, five to go.

As a distraction, short picspam of original Team TARDIS group shots )

Okay, that's far too much procrastination
agapi42: Happy Kaylee (Firefly - Shiny!)
Was it by means of Dr. Who's machine that Aladin's palace sailed through the air?

Was Merlin Dr. Who?

Was Cinderella's Godmother Dr. Who's wife chasing him through time?

Jacob Marley was Dr. Who slightly tipsy, but what other tricks did he get up to that Yuletide?

Of course, the second one's already been done. I love the fact that the idea of the Doctor being Merlin was first suggested in 1963.

Also, ha at the idea of 'Lola' having "sudden rabbit courage" (what does that mean?) and 'Cliff' being Practically Perfect in Every Way.

Now I quite want to read Campaign again.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, [livejournal.com profile] malaleen!

Latest *headdesk* moment, a review on a fic (not mine) on ff.net: there is no way that Ian, Barbara or Rose could know who Susan was, because the Doctor left her in the 22nd century to marry David Campbell. Unless she somehow managed to travel back in time...
Again: there is no way that Ian, Barbara or Rose could know who Susan was
So either they're so unaware of that era that I am astounded they know of the existence of Ian and Barbara or...they actually mean that Susan was left behind in what is now a negated timeline, (insert more retcon-ny, Time War-y handwaves here) thus wiping her existence from history and Ian and Barbara's memories (and leaving serious gaps: we were curious about..., we followed..., we, no, sorry, I have no idea why any of that happened). Yep, I'll just go with that!

Also, I will post an in-depth and thoughtful analysis of Ian's characterisation (WTFwhoisthis?) in Byzantiumrandomexclamationmark as soon as I stop laughing long enough to actually carry on rereading. CharactercalledIan, the correct response to someone in control stepping on your hand with all their weight, deliberately, is not to cry 'Stop it, you big bully!' That just conjures up an irresistible image of a petulant kid with a pout and is, frankly, hilarious. Or is that just me?

In Other Fandom news (by which I mean, something actually not DW, *gaspshockhorror*):
Thanks entirely to Jen, I am slightly readdicted to Sabrina, The Teenage Witch, which I absolutely loved when I was 14 even if I could only catch occasional out-of-order episodes on Nick.
The fandom is small and seems to have had his heyday eight years ago (when it was actually on the telly and still good), most of the fic I can find is not very good and Zelda Spellman is apparently Fandom's Punching Bag.
Seriously, out of the 171 stories that have ever been posted to ff.net, dating back to 1999, twenty-three feature her being (in order of frequency) mortally injured/ attacked/ sick/ heartbroken/ abducted by aliens/ accused of murder and imprisoned/ punished by being assigned a plant that wants to eat her/ turned into a toad, etc. And most of the others don't feature her.
The most entertainment from those stories is comparing the different mortal injuries: car crash, 'The Aneurysm Story' (no joke), eating a poisoned apple, wrists slashed open (Lucy, really, if you want to kill someone with a razor, then go for the throat. Kudos for vertical, but really, the throat), slipping on an icy patch, breaking her hand and then being buried in a snowdrift for a few hours etc. Oh, the melodrama!

"Because the very first Doctor was an older man - and he came down to Earth with his granddaughter, Sarah Jane."

From the Digital Spy article linked in today's [livejournal.com profile] who_daily, in which Sylvester McCoy suggests that a great way for the BBC to make it up to Andrew Sachs and his granddaughter would be to give them the part of the Eleventh Doctor and his companion.

*facepalm*

Dear Person,

One clip is not enough to justify your assertion that Sixties companions = screamers. Maybe they are 'best known for their lung power' but that's only because of That Stupid Stereotype.

You're making me remember Paul Parsons, Person. Stop that now.

To those that actually bother to watch anything broadcast in black and white, they are known to be Rather More Awesome Than That Stupid Stereotype. In fact, I've just looked 'The Moonbase' up on Wikipedia and from the short sypnosis alone, I can pick out two sentences which seem to indicate there is Polly (a girl, woman, female) awesome there (remind me to watch more Polly, soon) and that she does, in fact, serve more of a purpose in the story than to scream and be comforted.

Although I will agree with the statement 'Fortunately, male characters were always there to give support' because saving the world single-handedly, even when More Awesome Than You, can be tricky.

I love my TARDIS teams. (Also Sarah Jane's 'gang' is made of shiny win-ness.)

Also, screaming ≠ bad. Screaming = perfectly natural and understandable reaction. I don't think I would be brave enough to travel with the Doctor. If I did, I'm sure there would be quite a bit of me screaming.

Yes, it's another so-late-it's-early post from me.
